3 Wheeler Buggies
A three-wheeler is perfect for tackling off-road terrain and provides an easy ride for your infant. They are also more convenient to push and maneuver than a four-wheel buggy especially those with fabric sling seats or seat units that are positioned snugly in the frame, delivering the best geometry and weight distribution.
Stability
A three-wheeler has great stability, which is the reason it is a great choice for off road walking (especially with an all terrain or off-road style seat unit). They usually have large front wheels, which cope well with kerbs and bumps and rough ground. Some have a lockable wheels in the front to give you additional stability when driving on uneven terrain.
It's important to keep in mind that 3-wheel buggies have a lower centre of gravity than models with four wheels, which can mean that they can tip over more easily. The best 3-wheeled pushchairs are made with the best geometry to ensure they remain solid in all conditions. They should be able turn on a dime and be easy to steer with one hand. They also come with a 360o rotating front wheel that makes them perfect for navigating difficult terrain.
Look for models with pneumatic tyres. These are designed to be able to navigate tracks that aren't paved and should be able to handle rocks, mud, gravel and more. Many all-terrain buggies feature a swivelling front wheel that can be locked to provide stability when tackling extremely rough terrain too.
A 3-wheeler is an excellent option for runners and those who like to walk quickly and uphill, particularly when you plan to attach a car seat or carrycot. The Roma Atlas is an excellent example. It has a flat-reclining seat with five-point harnesses, and plenty of storage space to keep everything you need (plus a 50+ extendable sun hood). It's light, compact and suitable for infants and can be used in conjunction with a carrycot or car seat. It can also be used for light jogging, but is not intended for serious runners.
Weight
If you're looking for a vehicle that can handle the tough terrain, you need one with big wheels. These are designed to handle grass, cobbles and dirt tracks with ease, while still providing smooth riding. They're also good for jogging because they have built in suspension and are simple to move up and down kerbs. The downside is that they're quite heavy to push.
The most suitable 3 wheel buggy for rough terrain is the Mountain Buggy Urban Glide 2 (pictured above). This 3-wheeler is highly maneuverable due to its 16 rear wheels and an adjustable front wheel that locks. It comes with air tyres which do need occasional pumping, and it can carry a child up to 3. MFM reviewer Kath said that her toddler loved the shape of the seat and she found it easy to steer even with her three-year-old child on the board.
Another great option is the Baby Jogger Versa GT, with a movable handlebar as well as a hood that is of high-quality with 50+ UV protection. It's also easy to move up and down kerbs, and it can fit into small car boot. It can also be used as a pram that comes with a carrycot or infant car seat for newborns and toddlers.
Fabric sling seats are tucked inside the buggie's frame instead of sitting on top of it as modular seats. This design provides a lower centre of gravity at the perfect height, making it easier to push and lighter to pop the kerb (you cannot underestimate how often you'll be doing that as new parents!)
Seating
3 wheel pushchair for seating of 3 wheelers is quite impressive and there are many different choices to choose from. The included carrycot plus is perfect for newborns (which MFM reviewer Alice describes as a cozy and comfortable lie-flat bed that can be used both on and off the buggy). Older babies and toddlers will enjoy the spacious and padded seat unit that has adjustable ventilation. The seats are not able to recline fully, but they can be lowered to the lowest point. This should still give your child plenty of space and headroom.
A fabric sling is also available. It is advantageous in that it is positioned within the frame, instead of on top as a modular seat. This creates a lower center of gravity with perfect weight distribution. This makes it easier and lighter to push, especially when you're on bumpy terrain or curbs and MFM reviewer Kath loved the way that this style of seat negotiated these obstacles.
This type of buggy comes with a large basket and other useful features, such as an extendable hood with 50+ UV protection, a simple to use brake pedal, and some innovative visibility lights that can be placed on the front of the passengers to ensure safety when riding on rough terrain.

If you're seeking a single stroller that will grow with your family, there's the brand-new sport(tm) that is the first of its kind to take a single newborn from day one and adjust to take 2 or even 3 after your baby has developed, all within the footprint of one buggy.
three wheel pushchair -wheeled frame is much more stable and can be pushed with one hand. It's also better for difficult terrain. However, it also means that the shopping basket doesn't hold as much as a 4-wheeler buggy.
A high-quality ATP will come with pneumatic tyres, a padded grip for added comfort, and a superb suspension. It is also equipped to carry car seats and a carrycot so you can use it right from birth.
The MFM reviewers noted that the 3-wheeler frames didn't pass through their doors at home or car boot. If you're concerned about space, be sure you check the dimensions when the buggy is folded before purchasing.
Find a 3-wheeler that has 2 (or 3!) seats. This is the best option for your future and can help you save money. The iCandy strawberry sport is one of the most popular; it can be used as a single from day dot, and then transforms to a twin buggies when your baby starts walking.
Tyres
These tires cushion bumps and uneven surfaces to make your child's ride more enjoyable. These are found on pushchairs like the Phil & Ted's Sport that MFM reviewer Kath said was "an outstanding ride for her toddler". She also noted that the grippy tyres of the Phil and Ted's Sport made it easy for her to negotiate the kerbs as well as other obstacles.
These tyres can be difficult to maintain and will require having their air pressure regularly topped up. These tyres are prone to punctures, so you should always have an repair kit and spare inner tube when you're out and about.
PU tyres can be used on pushchairs because they are less expensive than air-filled tyres but are just as robust. PU tire are easily identifiable by their matte finish and supple feel. They also slide easily on even and tied surfaces.
It's usually possible to tell the difference between PU and air-filled tire by running your fingers over each one, if it feels firm, then it's a rubber tyre, and if it slides then it's a PU. You can also determine whether your buggy comes with PU tyres by sliding them onto an even, smooth surface. They should roll easily and fit snugly into the wheel hubs.
Foam tyres can handle the rough terrain of high-performance buggies. This could make your buggy less stable since the foam will lose its springy nature. Additionally, these tyres may often be noisy as they generate a lot of noise as you turn and make your way around town.
